Community & Communications Lead
📍 Aarhus — based at The Kitchen, Universitetsbyen 14
We’re Startup Aarhus. A community organisation aiming to build a world-class startup ecosystem in Aarhus. We do this by launching programs and activities that help solve startups’ biggest challenges. Now we’re looking for someone who can take ownership of our community activities and bring even more structure, energy, and creativity into the way we engage with startups and the ecosystem.
Why this role matters
Community is the backbone of everything we do. Our projects, events, and initiatives only create real change if they are consistent, high-quality, and meaningful for the people who join them. This role is the key ingredient that ties it all together - making sure startups and the ecosystem feel the value of Startup Aarhus existence.
What you will be doing
- Lead the development and delivery of community events and initiatives such as Townhall and SMIL Festival.
- Design and test new formats and activities to keep our community offerings vibrant and valuable.
- Ensure smooth execution, high quality, and clear outcomes in everything we do
- Contribute to connecting people across our new office spaces in The Kitchen and the Partner House.
- Lay the foundation for building a team around community initiatives and communications as we grow - this role is a starting point, not the end point.
- Produce content (text and visuals) for our online channels, especially LinkedIn - to tell the stories of our community and the wider ecosystem
- Work closely with the team to shape ideas and turn them into impactful initiatives.
What success looks like after 12 months
- Our events and initiatives run smoothly, professionally, and clearly benefit the startup community.
- Successful founders are more engaged, strengthening the pay-it-forward culture in Aarhus.
- Startup Aarhus is visible and consistent in its communication, with growing engagement on LinkedIn.
- There is a clear pipeline of new ideas and initiatives that will strengthen the startup ecosystem, and you’ve helped define what the next team hire should look like.
What we are looking for
Must-haves
- Project management and operations experience (events or community initiatives are a plus).
- Strong ability to structure and drive several projects at once.
- Interest in and understanding of the startup environment.
- Creativity in shaping events that feel fresh, founders-first, and always include a wow factor (speaker, venue, surprise element, or concept).
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with communication, copywriting, and social media (especially LinkedIn).
- Graphic design skills (Canva, Figma, or similar).
The future
This role will grow into a leadership position with staff responsibility as The Link (Startup Aarhus) expands. Whatever direction it takes, every initiative will share the same purpose: strengthening the local startup ecosystem.
What we offer
- Salary based on qualifications.
- Flexible working hours and the option to work from home occasionally
- Free office snacks, coffee, and tea.
- Paid internet subscription.
- A workplace right next to public transit.
- Private healthcare insurance.
- Social events with the team and community.
- Opportunity to shape the role as we grow - with a path toward leadership if desired.
- A front-row seat in one of Denmark’s most exciting startup communities.
Location: Startup Aarhus HQ in Aarhus, Denmark. We are not looking for remote workers.
