Head of Investments

📍 Aarhus — based at The Kitchen, Universitetsbyen 14

We’re Startup Aarhus. A community organisation aiming to build a world-class startup ecosystem in Aarhus. We do this by launching programs and activities that help solve startups’ biggest challenges. Capital is one of those challenges, and we are now looking for a new Head of Investments to strengthen this area.

Why this role matters

Raising capital is one of the biggest hurdles founders face in every phase of the startup journey. At Startup Aarhus, we want growth-minded startups that are raising capital to feel supported and better connected when it comes to funding. This role drives our investor efforts and makes sure everything we do creates real value for founders. You’ll make our current initiatives thrive while launching new ones that strengthen the ecosystem. From angels to VCs, from education to matchmaking, you’ll be the one helping Aarhus startups meet the right investors at the right time.

What you will be doing

- Lead the development and delivery of our investor initiatives including VC Series, Investor Digest, Capital Connect, Townhall Pre-mixer, matchmaking, investor activities at SMIL Festival, and our new program Growing Investors 2.0.
- Design and run formats that combine education, networking, and inspiration for both new and experienced investors.
- Ensure high quality, clear outcomes, and real value across all investor-focused initiatives.
- Strengthen the link between founders and investors by creating the right matches at the right time, so startups have the best possible foundation for successful fundraising.
- Help put Aarhus on the radar of international VCs and position local startups as strong investment cases.
- Contribute to building the future of the investor initiatives, including shaping a team around this work as we expand.

What success looks like after 12 months

- More Aarhus-based startups connect with the right investors and successfully raise the capital they need to grow.
- International VCs see Aarhus as a place to look for promising investment opportunities.
- Investors feel that introductions and dealflow from Startup Aarhus are qualified and worth their attention.
- We see real matches and deals being made, not just meetings, between startups and investors.
- Investor Digest is published every quarter, consistent in quality and widely read by national and international investors.
- Growing Investors 2.0 has been kicked off, with research and early activities completed, and we are on a clear path toward it becoming a long-term, established concept for new and experienced investors.
- Founders are more investor-ready from the early stages onward, with a better understanding of their funding options, from organic growth to angels, VCs, corporates and beyond.

What we are looking for

Must-haves
- Experience with startup fundraising, whether as a founder, investor, VC, family office or similar.
- Ability to structure and drive multiple projects at once.
- Drive and passion for building a world-class startup ecosystem, with a focus on activating new investors and attracting international capital.

Nice-to-haves
- Experience in preparing founders for fundraising.
- A network within the Danish or international investor community.
- Experience with communication or facilitation such as workshops, seminars or networking sessions.

The future

This role can grow into a central leadership function for all investor-related activities in Aarhus. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of new initiatives, shape how founders approach investor readiness, and over time build a small team around our capital initiatives.

What we offer

- Salary based on qualifications.
- Flexible working hours and the option to work from home occasionally
- Free office snacks, coffee, and tea.
- Paid internet subscription.
- A workplace right next to public transit.
- Private healthcare insurance.
- Social events with the team and community.
- Opportunity to shape the role as we grow - with a path toward leadership if desired.
- A front-row seat in one of Denmark’s most exciting startup communities, with access to a strong network of founders and investors.

Location: Startup Aarhus HQ in Aarhus, Denmark. We are not looking for remote workers.
